Course Description: Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a chronic progressive condition that affects the pumping power of the heart muscles. While often referred to simply as “heart failure,” CHF specifically refers to the stage in which fluid builds up around the heart and causes it to pump inefficiently. In this module, the decline in the functioning of a 71-year-old man diagnosed with advanced heart failure who does not have documented advance directives is examined. Participants will be provided an overview of the patients’ medical conditions, health records, family background, and treatment strategies.
