Foundations in Mental Health: Knowledge and Skills for Service Providers Working with Survivors of Domestic and Gender-Based Violence

Description

Survivors of domestic and gender-based violence (DV/GBV) often experience trauma from the abuse itself and challenges navigating complex systems. To cope with the profound impact of trauma, survivors often rely on protective survival responses. Service providers might observe clients experiencing intense emotional reactivity, withdrawing, dissociating, or expressing thoughts of suicide.

This four-module series equips service providers across DV shelters, NYC Family Justice Centers, community-based organizations, and similar settings with mental health concepts and practical skills to respond effectively. Quizzes, client scenarios, and experiential exercises reinforce learning and support real-world application.

Learners earn a certificate upon completing each module, can revisit modules at any time, and have access to find additional resources throughout.
