Purpose: Postherpetic neuralgia – a complication of shingles – is a painful condition that affects the nerve fibers and skin. In this module, a case study involving a patient with myelogenous leukemia and postherpetic neuralgia is examined. Participants will review techniques to assist them in accessing, identifying and providing treatment with an emphasis on initiating goals of care discussions with patients diagnosed with a chronic illness.
