- Compare the US, NYS and NYC maternal mortality rates and address the initial efforts to reduce MM in NYS
- Understand the importance of asking about ‘pregnancy intention’ and action plan depending on the patient’s response
- Understand the importance of initiating folic acid prior to pregnancy and optimizing other medical conditions, such as pre-gestational diabetes, chronic hypertension, anemia and cardiac conditions
- Understand the long-term health implications of gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
