The Primary Care and Population Health Grand Rounds Topic: Addressing the Unmet Social Needs of Patients in a Public Health Care System webinar presentation by Kalpana Bhandarkar, MPH, MBA, Lead, Social Determinants Office of Population Health, and Dr. Marion A. Billings, MD, MSc, Primary Care Provider NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Health Center provides the evidence base for the social determinants’ impact of health outcomes.   The presentation also delivers an overall understanding of how and why health systems are increasingly addressing unmet social needs; and demonstrates through a high level review of patient scenarios provider responses to unmet social needs.

Kalpana Bhandarkar oversees the Social Determinants Team in the Office of Population Health at NYC Health + Hospitals, the City’s public hospital system.

Dr. Billings is a primary care pediatrician at NYC Health and Hospitals/Gotham Health, Gouverneur.
