BHA Academy: Managing the Agitated Patient and De-escalation Strategies – Module 4

This module will discuss techniques to de-escalate when a patient becomes agitated, aggressive or uncooperative under the direction of the nurse.  It will also cover identifying warning signs or triggers of agitated behaviors and identifying strategies to initiate early de-escalation.  Application of therapeutic communication techniques from the previous module will assist the BHA to sort through difficult issues and take thoughtful actions to improve the patient’s mental health and well-being.
